2nd Annual Party For A Cure

Party for a Cure Raises Funds to Find a Cure

Karen Barbour of The Barbour Group, Lee and Myrt Gaines of Gaines and Company, Inc and Glenn Little of Suffolk Construction all came together to sponsor the Second Annual Party for a Cure, held at the historic Engineer’s Club to benefit  the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).   Jennifer Gilbert of Fox 45 News emceed the event and Naomi Hess – a local MDA child battling Congenital Muscular Dystrophy (CMD), spoke and thanked the three event sponsors and their guests for their support.

Karen Barbour began Party for a Cure in 2009 along with Lee Gains of Gaines and Company, Inc. in hopes of helping in the fight again neuromuscular diseases.  Because of the tremendous support from the event sponsors and their hard work, Party for a Cure, raised over $35,000 this year for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the local families they serve.

Funds raised by the event will support local health care services such as clinical care, support groups, research, repair of medical equipment and providing a week‐long session of summer camp for children age 6 to 17.
